Project Fantastico

                                                           WildFlower

My group is the wildflower group.  Our group’s goal is to make the playground more beautiful by planting flowers.  We researched native flowers to plant, bought the seed mixture, and planted.  We go out every 3-4 days and water our plants. We have taken out weeds and are planning to eradicate the blackberry bushes.  Our group has worked hard, from testing the soil to finding the perfect place to planting beautiful flowers to make the park look much better.  People need to continue making the park more and more beautiful for everyone.  If we continue to plant more flowers and trees, it will make it special for everyone.  Our group has been involved and we hope that other schools will want to take part and adopt a park also.

When our Wildflower group started, we discussed what we hoped to achieve. We decided our main goal was to make the park more beautiful by planting flowers, helping the existing flowers, and remove the huge blackberry plants. We started this process by planting poppy seeds, which we already had, in black crates in our school patio. Then we ordered seed packages using grant money. By the time our package arrived our poppies were ready to be transplanted in the park. Then we started planting the seeds in the park and watered all the flowers that were already there.

By the end of next year we hope to have all the blackberry plants out and many more flowers planted and in bloom. By the end of this year we want the blackberries to be out or at least have a method that we know works to remove the blackberry the following year.
